Dear
Room 23 Families,
Welcome
to our new school year! We’re off to a great start in room 23 and looking
forward to a year full of growth, learning, and fun.
These
third graders are thirsty! Please send your child to school with a water
bottle. I welcome students to fill them and have them on their desks so they
can drink water as needed. We’re also going to be using mini-whiteboards
throughout math this school year. If you have an old sock, washcloth, or small
rag that you can send in as a whiteboard eraser, that would be much appreciated
(we’ll save trees by eliminating the use of tissues and paper towels as
erasers).
Students
are coming home with their first
homework packet today. Homework will be assigned weekly on Monday and is
due on Friday. We’re still waiting on our green Edna folders to arrive. This
folder will become the “homework folder”. For now, we’re going to be flexible
and forge ahead this week without it. We’ll spend time this afternoon going
over the packet so that students are comfortable with what is being asked of
them. This packet should be able to be completed with minimal support from you.
The
parent questionnaire and 1st
Day PTA packets are due on Friday of this week. Thank you to those of you who
have already turned these in.
Picture Day is also on Friday of this
week (our picture time is at 9:15…before recess, yay!).
The car line and lunch line (new this year!) sign-up can be found at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094ba4af29ab9-3rdgrade.
Please consider these very important volunteer opportunities. They require
minimal time yet are instrumental in keeping our students safe and helping our
school run efficiently.
Several
of you have asked about volunteer opportunities. I will have a sign-up
available closer to Back to School Night. Thank you for your patience.
I
look forward to seeing all of you at Back
to School Night on Thursday, September 13. There will be an All-Parent
Assembly in the Multipurpose Room beginning at 5:30, with classroom visits to
follow.
Please
feel free to reach out with questions or comments.
Warm
Regards,
