Dear
Families of Room 23,
Starting
this week, we won’t be assigning nightly homework in third grade due to CAASPP
testing. Our goal is for students to be rested and relaxed as they come to
school so they can do their personal best on the tasks.
The
homework folder will come home today as I’m still asking my students to read
for 30 minutes every night and record their reading on the reading log. Reading
logs are due on Friday of this week. Several students will also be correcting
incomplete homework packets or homework packets with several errors from last
week. These should be turned back in for credit tomorrow. Thank you for helping
your child learn through this process.
Additionally,
the Economy Project will be coming home soon. Please be on the lookout for
details – I will certainly give you a heads-up.
One more reminder…
We begin CAASPP
testing today. Times vary depending on the day. Testing blocks are
60-75 minutes depending on the test. Here are the scheduled dates. I
will let you know of any changes.
· Monday, May 13
· Tuesday, May 14
· Wednesday, May 15
(changed from Thursday, May 16)
· Monday, May 20
· Tuesday, May 21
· Wednesday, May 22
Please remember that the
keys to success with these tests are for students to stay relaxed, come to
school rested and well-fed (including bringing healthy snacks and lunches), and
use test-taking strategies as we’re practicing in class. They already know the
content…now they get to show their stuff!
Thank you!
