Weekly Update

Dear Families of Room 23,

It’s hard to believe we’re down to the last six weeks of school. I’m beginning to feel nostalgic and am taking in every moment that I have left with this very special group of students!

Many projects and important dates will fill these final weeks of school. Please take special note of the following:

1.     Get ready for our 2nd annual Mustang Maker Night on Wednesday, May 15 from 5-8pm, an evening packed with hands-on tinkering, robotics, crafts, and all kinds of fun experiments.  Local businesses that specialize in providing children with maker activities are enthusiastic to return, and we have amazing parent-led booths planned for all ages.  Food trucks will be on site for easy dinner. GET INVOLVED:  Please see The Edna Weekly this week to sign up to help! Thank you to our PTA for bringing this wonderful event to Edna for a second year!

2.     The 3rd and 4th grade music performance will be held on Friday, May 17 from 10:15-11:00 in the multipurpose room. All are welcome!

3.     The Chorus Concert is Tuesday, May 28, at 7:00 at MVMS. More details will follow.

4.     Open House is Thursday, June 6 from 6:00-7:00. The third graders are excited to show you all the hard work they’ve done this year!

5.     We begin CAASPP testing on Monday, May 13 (next week). Times vary depending on the day. Testing blocks are 60-75 minutes depending on the test. Here are the scheduled dates. I will let you know of any changes.
·       Monday, May 13
·       Tuesday, May 14
·       Thursday, May 16
·       Monday, May 20
·       Tuesday, May 21
·       Wednesday, May 22

Please remember that the keys to success with these tests are for students to stay relaxed, come to school rested and well fed (including bringing healthy snacks and lunches), and use test-taking strategies as we’re practicing in class. They already know the content…now they get to show their stuff!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Teresa Shern
